Do I have to be a member of the centre to take classes?
No, you do not have to be a member of the Newton Senior Centre or Computer Club. However, you will have to pay double or more for classes unless you are a member.
I am going away for the winter, when are the next set of classes announced?

How much do the classes cost?
It depends how many sessions are in the class. All class sessions are the amazing price of $3.50 a session. If a class has 4 sessions it will cost $14.00. The deal of the century!
Why are the classes so cheap?
We believe that all seniors should have the opportunity to take computer classes to enrich their lives. Cost should not be a barrier. Our classes are led by volunteers which keep our costs way down. Many of our instructors are retired teachers or other professionals with technical backgrounds
What if I can't attend the registration?
You are able to have a proxy! Send someone in your place (they do not have to be a club member). Please ensure that your proxy knows your membership information, the class you plan on attending and is able to pay for the class on your behalf at the front desk. Class instructors are not eligible to act as a proxy.How many classes can I take?
As many as you like. Be careful...the brain can only retain so much though !
Will I be allowed to use my laptop at the classes?
Currently, we would prefer that no personal laptops be brought to class. If you have any questions regarding your laptop or any other device, please bring them to a drop-in session. However, tablet or phone classes, we ask you to bring in your personal device.
Who teaches the classes?
Classes are taught by club member volunteer instructors who are knowledgeable on the courses. Included in each class are one or more teaching assistants who are also club members.
Do I need any special software for the classes?
Most classes are taught with free software that can be downloaded from the Internet. Occasionally, a course may need special software.
What operating system will we be using?
All the computers will be using Windows 10.
I'm going on a holiday and would miss a few sessions. Can I still take the class?
Please check with the instructor.
I use a cane or have low mobility, Can I still take a class?
We will do everything we can to make it accessible. Please consult with the instructor.
I have visual or hearing disability. Can I still take a class?
We can accommodate you. Please check with the instructor on the very first day of the class.
I'm new to the Centre. Can I register for classes on-line?
Unfortunately, no. You will need to either go to the centre or call 604-501-5010.
I'd like to volunteer to teach or assist in a class. Who do I contact?
Please look at the Volunteer list on this site. Contact any one of those members.
